In the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, and the resulting nationwide riots, issues of racism and police brutality exploded to the forefront of our cultural institutions. Critical Race Theory, intersectionality and critical social justice, which had been obscure academic concepts, became the dominant language with which these issues were being discussed in the media, as we watched these events take place from our pandemic-locked down homes. Unfortunately, these concepts also made their way to our virtual pulpits.

Beginning in June 2020, many prominent evangelical churches openly embraced Critical Social Justice (CSJ) and spent several weeks featuring special topics and speakers to preach these ideals from a presumably biblical perspective. The problem was, as Voddie Baucham clearly demonstrates in his book, CSJ denies object truth and is, therefore, anti-biblical. I witnessed this first-hand at my own church as false doctrines, false teaching, and a false-gospel was preached for four straight Sunday mornings. Many pastors have continued to promote anti-biblical perspectives and openly advocate for concepts that undermine the objective truth of the Gospel message.

Fault Lines was published in April 2021 in response to these false teachings within the Church. It provides a point-by-point refutation of the doctrines of CSJ, and demonstrates the stark differences between Critical Social Justice and Biblical Justice. This is an issue that is already beginning to split the Church. Fault lines are forming between those that preach the Gospel of Christ and those that diminish the Gospel with CSJ.
